- Steve Goold, born 5/29/80 in Los Angeles.

- Began playing drums at age 11, learning the basic functions of groove from Mark Nash, drummer from Grammy-winning Christian pop group PFR.  Began playing in local churches and garage bands immediately.  Participated in many high school ensembles including all-conference Jazz Band for western Twin Cities and “Best Soloist” award at LaCrosse Jazz Festival.  Began teaching private lessons in the community at age 16.

- Attended Bethel University 1998-2002, and began playing local jobbing gigs at age 18.  Heavy emphasis on jazz and gospel.  Studied extensively during this time with internationally acclaimed avant-jazz drummer David King (The Bad Plus, Jeff Beck, others), and also internationally acclaimed rock/pop drummer Michael Bland (Prince, Madonna, Jonny Lang).

- Joined the music faculty at Bethel University and Northwestern College after graduating in 2002.

- Performed live and in-studio all over the US, South America, Central America, Asia, and Europe.  Averaging 250 gigs per year, including everything from original music and freelance/commercial studio work, to jobbing gigs in jazz clubs, ballrooms, area churches, and pit orchestras.

- Currently performing regularly with Grammy-winning songwriter Joel Hanson, Emmy-winning vocal quartet The Blenders, American Idol’s Jesse Langseth, Minneapolis prog/rock super group The Bill Mike Band, Elizabeth Hunnicutt, Jeremy Sanoski, Ryan Paul & The Ardent, and the Jason Harms Quintet.  (studio tracks for these artists can be heard on myspace.com/stevegoold)

DSC_4075- Past performances include working with Michael Tait (now the lead singer for The Newsboys), Larnelle Harris, Mark Alan, Shai Linne, Halloween Alaska, Power Of Ten, Mick Sterling, Breathedeep, Cowboy Curtis, Grayshot, Heart of the City, Stacey Hanson, Jacob Martin Band, Jess Jarus, MC Carnage, and many others.

- Working extensively in the Twin Cities session scene, with credits on over 100 recordings.  Discography includes: Pivitplex’s The King In A Rookery (produced by Grammy-winning Audio Adrenaline producer Jason Burkum), indie art-rock sensation Cloud Cult’s Feel Good Ghosts (featured on national E-trade television advertising), Bill Mike Band’s Secure (nominated for 5 Minnesota Music Awards in 2007), Elizabeth Hunnicutt’s On The Way (winning “Best Production” at 2009 CCM Worship Conference), and commercial work with clients including General Mills and Miss Minnesota.

- Upcoming work includes the release and tour for Joel Hanson’s latest recording, What If It Is (all drum credits), The Blenders’ annual Christmas tour, and the release and tour for Jeremy Sanoski’s latest recording, Because Of You Jesus (all drum credits)… in addition to regular jobbing gigs and commercial session work in the Twin Cities.

- Currently teaching with faculty positions at both Bethel University and Northwestern College, and continuing to teach private lessons in the community.  Past students have included the drummers for Atmosphere, Rebecca St James, Mason Jennings, White Light Riot, This World Fair, and many others.  Also regularly teaching clinics and master classes at area churches, music stores, and colleges.

- Endorsed by Risen Drums in 2007.  Filmed a series of video lessons featured on the Risen Drums website, now also on youtube.

- Started an educational blog about drums in 2008, now with over 32,000 hits.
