… is one of my favorite studio players. The session at Masters Studio yesterday was for a rock-country record, and I found myself constantly referencing McHugh’s playing as I worked through the songs.
I’ve looked for clips of him on youtube before and not had much luck, but it turns out all you need to do is search “Keith Urban” and there’s suddenly tons of footage of McHugh in action. This is the best one I found.

McHugh is THE favorite drummer of mine from the Nashville scene — he makes his presence known with a single hit on his snare. Don’t know how he does it, but I sure can tell. I still listen to a couple of old White Heart albums with him on it.

Oh! He is a phenom! I love his playing. The DVD from which that video is from is amazing. Definitely a good live performance to watch — incredible musicianship and a ton of gear to gawk at!
