jamesjamersonurieljonesI just came across a blog report about the death of Motown drumming legend Uriel Jones.  Jones was the drummer for “Funk Brothers,” the house band for Motown Records during the 60’s and 70’s.  During his tenure with Motown Jones played with hundreds of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and The Temptations.  Jones’ playing can be heard on mega-hits such as “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and he was featured extensively in the Standing In The Shadows Of Motown documentary.  Jones passed away on March 24th from heart attack complications.
