Apparently Prince just wrote/recorded a fight song for the Minnesota Vikings, in lieu of this weekend’s NFC championship game. I just listened to it, and… um, I don’t know what to say.
The track is streaming at the Twin Cities FOX9 website if you want to hear it for yourself. (To hear the full track, use the player to the right, not the video.)

I know what to say. The problem is I can’t say it.
See, when you live in the state of Minnesota, it’s apparently against the law to say anything bad about “his purple highness.”

To say Prince struggles with lyrics is a gross understatement (“The elegant war”?). Also, when he changed his name back to Prince, he should have stopped the annoying practice of substituting numbers and single letters for words and calling it creative genius.
Steve, I suggest you write a post exploring the greatest hit-or-miss artists of all-time. I nominate Prince. I cannot think of another musician that is so incredible when he’s on, but so stunningly bad when he’s off. It’s amazing how much poor material he has written in between the great stuff.
@Bill R: Minnesotans try not to badmouth Prince because we all secretly want to go to his house on Lake Minnetonka someday and eat pancakes.

The Vikings now have the worst fight song in all of sports world-wide. Awesome.

I blame Prince for cursing us. Prince and all the voodoo witchdoctors in NOLA.

Why don’t they just dance around in purple tutu’s? That is the sissiest song I have ever heard in my life! I am listening at the moment and want to shut it off, but it is like a car wreck and I just can’t stop watching(listening). Ugh!
